Making Your Blog Heard

Blogs have definitely come a long way from the cheesy online diaries that they were eight years ago. Today, blogs have become important means of spreading information, not only form marketers, but also more important entities like news agencies. This new found importance means that you need to get your blog read in order to deliver the information that you have.

And this is where blog optimization comes. Since you want to get your blog entries read, you should also know how to reach out to people and tell them that you have a blog in the first place. The following tips will help you in getting your blog broadcast all over the web.

The most important part of your blog is, of course, your content. In fact, many of the well renowned blogs today actually started from a single good post which got readers interested enough that they spread it to other users. Thus be sure that everything that you put in will definitely get your readers, well, reading.

But before you go put in the trash can, here's a heed of warning. Everything here means everything that would be of great use to your readers. Avoid putting in any content designed to intentionally to harm or bring hate to others. Also refrain from blatantly promoting yourself or your achievements. Not only are these actions highly unethical, they are likely to throw off your readers rather than encourage them to browse through your blog.

And of course, looks is every much as important as what you have to say. You need to present your content in such a way that they will be encouraged to read your post. A good blog layout will clearly give you an advantage in this area.

A helpful hint here is to match the design of your layout with the tone of your content. As an example, if you are leaning towards serious content, you need to choose muted and more formal colors and layouts, as oppose to using lively designs.

Also it would be better if you throw away the blog template and start your layout from scratch. This will be quite hard but it does have some very significant advantages. For one you get much greater control of your layout. This means you can be creative and unique in your design, instead of looking like other sites who use the same template. This can also be a good learning experience for you to know the ins and outs of blogging much better.

And since you need to get your blog promoted, it would be best if you know how to use the various broadcasting tools at your disposal. RSS feeds are the simplest way that you can tell other bloggers that you have new content. Be sure to place your RSS button in a suitable location on your blog page so that people can hit it quickly if they want to subscribe. And be sure that you yourself get RSS feeds from those who link to you. Not only is this a good thank you note for them subscribing to you, you will also get to reach more people through their connections.
